  1. Running out of servial materials. John critally thinking, came up with a way to make money so his colony could get food and clothes. "What could make alot of money?" John thought.Tobacco!Planting from one to many tobacco seeds earning alot of money to rebiuld their colony. But of course John nor his colony could of planted the seeds without knonwing where would be the right place to plant their seeds. So who could of help them? Pocahantas was a Native American, who new how to plant goods in the best soil, helped the Jamestown colony plant their tobacco seeds. But Pocahantas wasn't enough to plant millions of seeds they needed more help.Slaves also contributed to help plant tobacco. Now if you think they sell alot of tobacco now just amagine them introducing tobacco to new people making more money then you would amaging. Now you kniw if they started with nothing and just from selling tobacco they where able to feed hundreds .

  2. The living conditions of Jamestown at the beginning were bad because the people in the colony had no food, money,or clothes. They figured if they went north then would be able to find food.Jamestown needed a way to make money for their colony so they came up with idea of planting tobacco.John didnt know where how to plant tobacco. So he called on Pocahantas, Pocahantas was a Native American women who knew about planted crops.Of course, they needed somebody to plant the crops so thats when slaves came in. So following Pochantas lead they started planted their tobacco. Jamestown became a very important colony because other colonies started to buy tobacco from Jamestown.

  3. The living conditions of Jamestown at the beginning were bad because the people in the colony had no food, money,or clothes. How much did Pocahontas know about tobacco? It is true that Powhatan women grew the food, while in a completely separate sector, a sort of back area of the village, men grew the tobacco. Pocahontas, however, had a seemingly insatiable curiosity, and tended to roam where she wanted.

  4. The living conditions in Jamestown was very bad. The land was swampy and dangerous to live in. The main reason why the settlers mogranted to north American is because they wanted to be the fist engish colony in the new world. One of the biggest benefit from they land. They were able to grow tobacco. In starvation time food was very low. Dead bodies were dug up to be eaten. One of the colonist murdered his own wife and attempted to eat her. Also the local Indians was killing off there livestock. What brought them out of starvation was the growing of tobacco. In England tobacco is a big cash crop. By growing tobacco it was a big saver to jamestown. When African were brought in they help alot.It was cheap labor which brought in more money for the white settlers

  5. Jamestown was horrible.....no food ,money, or clothes. So to fix this problem they began sailin for land for food and other necessaties (spell check). In that voyage they found tobacco and began to use that as a resource. There were other things that were a problem to them also like: the indians were killin their food supply or there wasn enough food so they had to dig up bodies and act as animals eatin the flesh of others. There were alot of things goin on at this time but they found their way to success :)

  7. When the settlers first arrived at Jamestown they thought it was "Hell on Earth." The living conitions were not the best because there was no food, clothes, nor money. John figured that he could create a new world by settling in the North. Jamestown was facing a horrible starving time, which drove people insane. One man killed his pregnant wife thinking he would have her for dinner. Since this was Rolfe's new location he decided to make the best of it. He later met and married his wife Pocahontas, whom he had made a celebrity in England. The couple grew a lot of crops, but the most success one was tobacco. The tobacco grew so rapidly they needed more help, so they had slaves and servants to do most of the work. "Jamestown went from a living hell to a boom town!"

  8. At the beginnings of the Jamestown colony the living conditions were very poor, they were starving and had no money or clothes. For the Jamestown colony being poor the settlers thought it would be important to migrate to the North America continent. The new settlers were able to migrate and help plant more tobacco. In the starving times 500 settlers made their jorney before Rolfe and 60 remained, feeding off horses and other animals. With the findings of tobacco seeds the settlers were able to plant more tobacco and make money for food. Rolfe then married Pocahantas and made her a celebrity in England, then England soon invested in lots of money. As the tobacco grew and with all of Rolfe and Pocahantas hard work 19 slaves and settlers migrated from West Africa to help. An Jamestown was now the Boomtown of America.

  9. the living conditions of jamestown was miserable. You can tell because in the movie it said a man was burn because of his atempt to kill and eat his wife.the reason most people migrated towards th e north was because of the search for gems or any other riches they could find.the plan for the new land was the cash crop tabacoo, they planned to spread the addiction to the colony.pocahontas was familiar to the land and she was the ticket to translations and learning other things.settlers and slave come in through the news of the rise of a ghost town to the largest export. so, in conclusion i can say wherever there's money their will be an increase in population which includes kings to slaves

  10. The jamestown people did noy have many resources to begin with.Having no money and a limited food supply was their main discouragment. The major reason they migrated was to find more food and better living conditions. There were more crops and there was more open land for farms and houses. Many people died of starvation.

  11. The living conditions of Jamestown was miserable due to the fact that they had no food, clothing, or even money. So to stop the people from staving they decide to sail north, but instead of food they found tobacco. The tobacco began to grow rapidly. Jamestown was facing a horrible starving time, which drove people insane, for example a man killed his wife hoping and wishing he could have her for dinner. The tobacco grew and Rolfe and Pocahantas worked hard to keep it that way with their slave included. By the end of all the pain and suffering Jamestown went for hell to "Boomtown."

  12. The living conditions on Jamestown colony was very bad. There wasn't money food clothes or any other needed supplies for them to survive. Settlers begin to cross over the world because they figured America was the ultimate land of opportunity. Many Indians were living in a town where the starvation got so bad that they begin to eat their own flesh.. Humans! John started to plant tobacco. He knew that that was the only way he could make money to build his colony up. It was very limited to the Spanish colonies. He then later married Pocahontas the daughter of a king of the Powhatan and he then made a celebrity! She worked really hard to help the colony out with her planting. Slaves also helped out. They was playing the shappings in the creations of the colony!

  13. The living conditions in beginning of Jamestown was hrush and brutal. All the different plans and ideas that the travelers where not coming into play as they thought they would. On top of that they built Jamestown in the middle of a native's land, making them vulnerable to attack. They reason they came to the new land was because of the many different business oppritunities and plans of becoming rich and famous(gold and glory). Over a few years they started benifiting from the land because of John Rolfe tabacco plants, which were illegal to have in this time. But it brought in a huge amount of money for him making it the first cash crop in America. He later married a young Pagan named Pocahontas which is was a really big deal because an English man marring a Pagan women back then was not heard of.Not suprisingly,12 years after Jamestown was created, africans were put to work(as slaves of course) on the tabacco plants.

  14. The living conditions in the Jamestown Colony were dreadful. Money, food, clothes, and any other necessities weren't available for them. The settlers thought it would be a good idea to sail to North America. Thus, new settlers were able to migrate, and plant more tobacco. In one town, Indians were so deprived of food that they began to eat their own flesh. It got so bad to where one man killed his wife thinking he could have her for dinner. Since Rolfe new this was his new home, he knew that he had to make the best out of the situation. He met a woman by the name of Pocahontas and soon married her. The couple grew crops, and tobacco. The tobacco grew so promptly that they needed more and more help, so they had slaves to do most of the work. At the end of all of this Jamestown became a 'Boomtown'.

  15. The living conditions of Jamestown at the early beginning were really bad. People in the colony had no food, money or clothing.
A Captain named John Smith took control of the village and saved it from utter collapse when he whipped the colony into line. Unfortunately the colonists still died in droves and many were forced to desperate acts to survive. They were reduced to eating dogs, cats, rats, and mice. Some even dug up corpses for food and one hungry man killed, salted, and ate his wife in order to survive. He was later executed for his misbehavior. Four hundred settlers managed to make it to Virginia and Jamestown in 1609. After the "starving time" winter of 1609-1610, only 60 were left alive. By 1625 Virginia contained only some 1,200 survivors of nearly 8,000 people who tried to start a new life in the new world.

  16. The living conditions in James Town befor it got well, were very drastic and criticle times. The reason James Town settlers moved to North America was for their good food and found treasure, tabacco, and land. The land was glorious and good for plantation. Starving time was so bad that people ate family and live stock. Tabacco, gold, and land were the cash crops, and now days the original ones are worth millions of dollars. The marriage of John Rolfe and Pocahantaswas plentyful because it spread word about James Town which grew and required slavers who eventually became African slaves.

  17. - The Jamestown people living Conditions were horrible, the settlers decided if they went North they could produce & find more food,They easily adapted to the conditions of growing food,THE STARVING TIME was an era which the people basically ranned out of products and food, which led to cannibles & misbehavior of the people eating other people.Tobacco was an cash crop which help restablish the colony bc it grew in plenty,John Rofle & Pocahonas marrige became famous inspired by him,& Finally African slaves were not deplicted as "Humans"

  18. Jamestown was a settlement in the Colony of Virginia, the first permanent English settlement in the Americas. Established by the Virginia Company of London as "James Fort" on May 14, 1607 (O.S., May 24, 1607 N.S.), it followed several earlier failed attempts, including the Lost Colony of Roanoke. Jamestown served as the capital of the colony for 83 years (from 1616 until 1699).
The settlement was located within the territory of a political entity known as Tsenacommacah, the state of the Powhatan Confederacy, with around 14,000 native inhabitants, and specifically was in part of the subdivision known as the Paspahegh tribe. The natives initially welcomed the colonists with dancing, feasting and tobacco ceremonies, and they provided crucial provisions and support for the survival of the colonists, who were not agriculturally inclined, although relations with the newcomers also soured fairly early on, leading to the total annihilation of the Paspahegh in warfare within 3 years.
Within a year of Jamestown's founding, the Virginia Company brought Polish and Dutch colonists to help improve the settlement. In 1619, the first documented Africans were brought to Jamestown, though the modern conception of slavery in the future United States did not begin in Virginia until 1660. When the colony was subdivided into the original eight shires of Virginia in 1634, the town became located in the eponymous James City Shire. The London Company's second settlement, Bermuda, claims to be the site of the oldest town in the English New World, as St. George's, Bermuda was officially established (as New London) in 1612, whereas James Fort, in Virginia, was not to be converted into James town until 1619, and further did not survive into the present day. In 1699, the capital was relocated from Jamestown to what is today Williamsburg, after which Jamestown ceased to exist as a settlement, existing today only as an archaeological site.
Today, Jamestown is one of three locations comprising the Historic Triangle of Colonial Virginia, along with Williamsburg and Yorktown, with two primary heritage sites. Historic Jamestown, the archaeological site on Jamestown Island, is a cooperative effort by Jamestown National Historic Site (part of Colonial National Historical Park), and Preservation Virginia. The Jamestown Settlement, a living history interpretive site, is operated by the Jamestown Yorktown Foundation in conjunction with the Commonwealth of Virginia.

  20. Jamestown had savage people but they were nice and they was kind. They had to grow food because of the Starving Time is when they ran out of food and stuff. Tabacco was very popular in jamestown and gold was as well. When John Rolfe and Pocahontas got married it was good for JamesTown because it spreaded the word which made slaves become African Slaves. The tabacco grew so large that thay needed more slaves to do work.
