ReplyDeleteThe geographic regions of the thirteen colonies where the New England, Middle, and Southern Colonies. The 3 regions divided the 13 colonies and had their own (main) means of income. The New England Colonies income came from fishing and lumber usage and was constited of Massachusetts Bay, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. The Middle Colonies means of income where farming and constisted of New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. Last, the Southern Colonies means of income was also farming but they soil was well fertilized where constisted of Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.

ReplyDeleteThe Jamestown and Plymouth colonies had a lot in command. Their both arrived to the new world hoping for change. They also came not knowing what was instore for them. They also were not prepared for the brutal weather conditions. The only differences were that the Jamestown settlers came 100 percent men, faced a starving time, and came to increase their wealth. While the Phymouth colony face a mini ice-age, rapid loss of population, and came to spread there religion/beliefs further around the world. The leader of the Pymouth colony was William Bradford and he served them for 30 years. Because the Phymouth colony was already "claimed" land, the natives of the land came to the pilgrims and they found command ground because of a rival native tribe. The indians needed better weapons and the pilgrims needed food and tips on living in the hash condtions. Finally, both the indians and pilgrims ambushed the rival tribe and feasted afterwards because of they victory. Which later marked one everyone's favorite holidays, Thanksgiving.

Southern colonies were virginia georgia north Carolina south Carolina and Maryland their industries were the plantation tobacco rice corn indigo sugarcane and cotton . ReplyDeleteColonies that were in massachusetts, rhode island , Connecticut , new Hampshire focusedvon fishing lumber, shipbuilding , and manufacturing because theyvlived closer to water. Colonies that were in new York , new jersey , Delaware, and Pennsylvania focused on, breadbasket , wheat , barley , rye, beef, pork, and butter because of the good soil. Southern colonies also had good soil but instead the grew tobacco, rice, corn, indigo, sugarcane , and cotton. When plymouth arrived they came for freedom of religion and to escape from great Britian. When jametown arrived the came from a business standpoint but both suffer in the cold and died from diseases and also became friendly with the Indians. The risk that they encountered were diseases , starvation , and Indians attacks. William brad rod was the governor of Plymouth . The reason the pilgrims and Indians found common ground is because the pilgrims help lounge a attack on the indian arrival . ReplyDeleteThe Plymouth Colony was formed for the purpose of having religious freedom (the Pilgrims), while the Jamestown Colony was formed by adventurers looking to make a profit in the New World. By coming to the New World, they were exposed to diseases that killed off most of their population. William Bradford was the governor of the Plymouth colony. He served as governor for over 30 years and was credited as the first civil authority to designate what American culture now calls Thanksgiving in the United States. The Pilgrims and the Indians came to an understanding by teaching and helping one another. The pilgrims helped the Indians attack a tribe of Indian rivals. After the victory they all came together as one and had a victory dinner. Which is how Thanksgiving came about.

Although Indians and Pilgrims joined together for a meal of thanksgiving in 1621, the Indians didn't fare so well at other thanksgiving observances. In 1641, a raid against the members of the Pequot tribe in Connecticut was very successful, and the churches declared a day of "thanksgiving" to celebrate. During this feast, the decapitated heads of Natives were kicked through the streets of Manhatten. Many towns in New England held thanksgiving days to celebrate victories over the Natives.

When they came to the New World they were exposed to diseases that killed off half of their population. The Pilgrims help attack a tribe of Indian rivals. After they won they all came together to feast. That is how Tanksgiving came about.
