Welcome Back 11th Graders!!! First I would like to say I hope each and everyone had a great and restful summer. I look forward to teaching you a host of new information and several new strategies to assist you in analyzing historical data. My ultimate goal this year is to help my students think like a historian and formulate their own perspective about events and people of American history. This year will consist of a pivotal presidential election in our nation's history and we will examine the political process that the Constitution has created for the Executive Branch of the United States of America. We will also take a close look at the second half of American History from Reconstruction(1877)-President Barack Obama's Administration. Becoming a productive and active citizen in your community, city, state, and country will allow you to create your own personal history and my plans are to build the foundations for it!
1st Assignment- Due 8/23/2012 by 12:00a.m. Midnight
Students will introduce themselves to the class Blog Post. Name, interest, goals, likes and dislikes of history, plans for school year, future career/occupation, college of choice, etc. (anything positive you would like the class to know about you). This welcome post should be at least 1 one paragraph in length (5 sentences). (see teacher example). The blog post are mandatory weekly and will count as 50 points.
2nd Assignment-Due 8/25/2012 by 12:00a.m. Midnight
Students are required to respond to (2) two of their classmates blog post. Students are required to write a two sentence reply to their classmates original post. Comments are to be respectful and positive. Each comment post will count as 25 points which is a total of 50 points. I look forward to reading your blog post and I he you enjoy a positive form of cyber communication in this class for the 2012-2013 school year!!!
My name is FALLIN Ladd and I am a Social Studies Teacher at Woodlawn High School. I am married with two children Collin and Chelslyn and I most times refer to them as my2CBL. I have been teaching for the past 6 years and I have a strong passion for history. I am currently a student at the University of Montevallo working towards my Ed.S. in Teacher Leadership. My name is Regine Smith and I am an eleventh grader currently attending Woodlawn High School.I like history and all of the knowledge that it has to offer you. Its not everyday that people get the chance to learn about where they came from or about the worlds history, especially as black people.My goals after high school isn't to go straight to college, i plan to go to the airforce instead and go to college after an be an RN. I like history but I don't think that I would take it up as a major in college. But for the time being im jus going to enjoy high school and some of the people in it.!

I have 14 brothers and sisters and 21 nieces and nephews. My hobbies consist of reading, swimming, and danceing. My favorite color is royal blue. My goals for the 2012-2013 school year are to control my attitude, make the AB Honor Roll, and graduate.

This is my 3rd year at Woodlawn High School.My goal for this year is to past all my classes with an A or B average.My other goal for this year is to past the social studies part of the graduation exam.I passed the rest of the exams , but social studies was a little bit harder for me.My likes about history are learning about the past and exploring new things.I don't have any dislikes about history.What I want to be when I grow up ? ReplyDeleteGood Evening, my name is Tierra Hester. I am in the 11th grade and I am also 16 years old. I enjoy learning whether its math, history, science,english,you name it and im always open to learning new things. I am interested in the future of this class because I know I will walk out with more history and writing knowledge than I walked in with. My plans for the sch year are to focus on TIERRA, dont care what people think of me, stay away from ignorance, and make sure I keep my grades up. In the future I want to be a nurse and study at ASU while being a dancer or maybe just settle for UAB. My backup plan would be to take a class to get my cosmotology liscense and later open up my own business. But for right now, passing yhe 11th grade on to the 12th...RIGHT NOW... is my ultimate goal :)

Hello my name is Phyllaria Wilson I am 16 years old and in the 11th grade. I am known for my sense of humor. I am goofy silly talkative and very active. I like to play the trumpet because I love music. My future plans is to go to Alabama State University and major in psychology and to write books. History is not my favorite subject but i willing to learn more about it. Right now i am striving to focus more in school to stay on the right track and keep making the honor roll. And to keep all the unecessary things out the way!

I take Mrs.Ladd AP US History class & im excited about taking the class, i heard she's a cool teacher ;).
